Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Tor M — 17 Jul 2018
Possibly the biggest film of 2017 with big names on every page. Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer together with a bunch of known actors.
We're in France, Dunkirk, and 400.000 soliders or something are trapped on beaches. There are bombings here, ships and planes, gun soliders and other war stuff. We follow some men tighter than others, naturally. A father and son is up for a mission of saving some of the poor souls as they come with they're boat to fill it up with people. Some of the soliders are also our main characters here togheter with a small squad of spitfire pilots.
There are no boring moments here. This is action filled and there is always a nerve here. The music is fantastic but the way it's shot and the pictures is for me the best thing here. Some very claustrophobic scenes really get you - there are quite a few of them. Not much gore or uglyness but I never missed it, really. It's not a perfect film, but it's a very good one. I like it a whole lot better than "Interstellar" and it's up there with my favorite films from the director.
8 out of 10 bullet holes.
