As a D&D nerd, and fantasy film enthusiast, this film hearts my heart. Here's an example of having over 20years of resource materials, full of details and stories... So we just take some of the cool pictures from the books and use that.
No real spells, monster names or behaviors, character class abilities, etc. Now for your common movie goer this would still be cool, and for the game nerds this would have rocked and brought multiple viewings in theaters, and good DVD sales.
.. But no. Instead we Marlon Wayans...
