Review of Dungeon Girl (2008) by Gene V — 12 Oct 2017
The point of this film is that the stereotyped situation of a girl being kidnapped by a young man is more complex than one might think. This is a situation in which the girl was never raped; in fact, it wasn't clear that the man did anything wrong, since the girl was essentially hiding out from the mother and stepfather when the "stranger" took her away.
I liked the depiction of the girl's voice, which was not very expressive, as you would expect from someone who had been through such trauma. The man was clearly oversexed, which makes it to his credit that he treated her decently.
True, there are parts of the film that don't make sense; this is true of many famous films, and the film goer should simply learn to tolerate such intervals. I upped my rating to four stars in reaction to what I thought were many unfair ratings.
