Review of Dumplings (2004) by Roxie C — 06 Aug 2015
The pain will end.
In Hong Kong, Aunt Mei is known for making dumplings that keep you young and rejuvenated. She brings an ancient recipe from China that has historically helped her ancestors but there is an unspoken ingredient that makes it work...an ingredient so heinous it will baffle the imagination.
"He butchered and served his son as a course.".
Fruit Chan, director of The Midnight After, Public Toilet, Don't Look Up, Made in Hong Kong, and a segment of Three Extremes, delivers Dumplings. The storyline for this picture is amazing and brilliantly written. The characters are very intricate and the acting is first rate.
"Think of the results, not what it was.".
I came across this on Netflix and was shocked to discover I had never written a review for this. I watched this awhile ago and always thought it was very good. This is a perfect blend of great concept, disgusting gore, a fascinating premise, great characters and acting, and disgusting gore...did I mention disgusting gore. This is a horror genre fan's dream.
"Eat while it's warm.".
Grade: A.
