The original Dumb and Dumber is a classic amongst my friends. Right up there with the most quoted films, like Anchorman and Super Troopers. Dumb and Dumber kicked off Jim Carrey's golden age of comedy and made this stupid kind of funny both loved or hated by cinema goers everywhere. 20 years later, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have moved on to more 'sophisticated' things. And just when you thought there would be no chance for a D&D sequel, BOOM: Dumb and Dumber To!

And what better way to explain their two decade absence but to have Carey's Lloyd playing an elaborate prank on Harry, posing as a vegetable for those years only to finally yell 'Gotcha'! And when asked why he waited so long, wouldn't it have been funny after 10 years? He replies 'Yeah, but bot as funny as 20!' This is perfect. Only with these character could you get away with this set up, and it totally fits Lloyd. And this just sets the tone for the rest of the film which rarely wavers, keeping the same feel and magic that was delivered in the first film. Sure they have grown older but they have definitely not grown up. Both these actors show you why they are truly the only guys who can play these roles.

Jeff Daniels takes a little bit of a back seat in this outing, really letting Jim Carey spread his wings, but only a little more than in the first one. But I don't feel it's disrespectful or that Carey overshadows Daniels, and it works for the characters. Harry is really the 'Dumb' of Dumb and Dumber. Lloyd is a complete imbecile. And I am so thankful to see Jim Carey back doing this kind of comedy. Maybe we'll get an Ace Ventura sequel. I would be down for that.

If you are a fan of the original, you must see this in cinemas. It is a fitting sequel whilst remaining a fantastic tribute to the 90's classic, with many a nod to characters and scenes from the first one. Possibly the best of all being after the credits, so make sure you stick around. Sure it's got a pretty thin plot, but this movie is all about the gags. That's what I expected, and that's what I got.

4/5.

'What my insensitive friend is trying to say is: did you get a C-section or did you go el-snatch-ural?' - Lloyd Christmas.
