Review of Dumb and Dumber To (2014) by Jacob B — 15 Jun 2017
Funny story: I was planning to torture myself with the infamous 2005 prequel in order to help get the reviews for all the Dumb and Dumber movies out of the way but I found myself unable to find someplace that was going to let me watch the film.
That bad, huh? So, what do I do? I say screw it and go straight to the direct sequel. Dumb and Dumber To is intermittently funny with the film throwing a few nods to the original and I'll give credit to Rob Riggle's camouflaging body paint especially since none of it is CGI.
All of it is real. Sadly, as much as I regret to say it, the film often feels more like the Farrelly brothers having a midlife crisis rather than being a truly compelling feature. Of all the films Jim Carrey could've chosen to break his "no sequels" rule aside from Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, did it really have to be this one? I guess that's just how belated sequels that even acknowledge how many years have passed since the first film work, I guess.
