Was the original so poor? Or had I become more sophisticated in the 20+ years since? I had to be sure. So I re-watched Dumb and Dumber (1994) to find out... The puerile toilet humour, over-the-top slapstick and playground silliness of the original is just.
.. Well... Brilliant! I'm happy to say "It's not me, it's you!" to Dumb and Dumber To. The long-awaited sequel didn't leave me feeling like a man with a peptic ulcer who'd just eaten a Dante's 'Atomic Pepper', but it did leave me feeling frustrated; constipated at the notion that this could have been so much better.
Much like the upcoming Jurassic World (2015) and Ghostbusters (2016) movies I can't help feeling that studios shouldn't always give the audience what they want.
