Review of Duck Soup (1933) by Jennifer X — 24 May 2008
It's absurd!
The movie portrays the political tension between two fictional countries, one of them under the command of Groucho Marx. This kind of comedy was way too bizarre for me, since it mixed ironic and bitter comedy, with crude critics against the world's politics in that year (after WWI, previous to WWII), with slapstick humor, adding some really senseless and random dialogs. Yet, despite the weird uhmor, the musical scenes, the randomness of the movie, despite the impudence against politics and the critics to the whole world, this little '33 film did stole tons of smiles from me.
