Review of Duck Soup (1933) by Richard L — 07 Jun 2008
Sixty-eight minutes of brilliance. What was really fun was watching my kids watch the film. They didn't get a lot of what Groucho was saying, and the lack of a coherent plot confused them. But they loved Harpo and Chico, especially the burning-the-hat sequences.
And they also loved the mirror routine; we watched it three times, and by the third, my middle daughter was learning the "dance moves." This movie is well-suited to the short-attention-span generation -- it was well ahead of its time.
