Review of Duck Soup (1933) by Dylan N — 08 Nov 2009
Duck Soup evokes a simpler time in comedy, when slapstick sight gags and punny wordplay were the standard and all it took was a thick, black moustache and a bowler hat to bring the laughs. That isn't to say it isn't funny, many of the gags are still hilarious in their absurdity, but the humor is thoroughly aged.
Groucho is clearly obsessed with the meanings of words, so any man who dares utter a colloquialism that could possibly be interpreted with a literal connotation, beware. You will be burned.
