Review of Duck Soup (1933) by Mark F — 19 May 2012
Not only the best and funniest Marx Brothers film, but one of the greatest comedy films of all time. Deliciously subversive, with the Marxes pulling off some of their most memorable routines - the peanut stall, the spying report and, of course, the much imitated but never equalled mirror routine.
It's a satire on jingoism, fascism and political demagogues, but beyond that it's simply hilariously funny.
