Review of Duck Soup (1933) by Kyle T — 10 Dec 2012
I absolutely LOVE the Marx Brothers, and this might just be their greatest work. The comedy is just on, and there is nothing like them. The humor is fast paced, extremely effective, goes through so many types of genres.
The Marx Brothers are some of the greatest comedians of all time, and through this film, it is easy to see why. Itâ(TM)s a short film packed with a Hell of a lot of great comedic bits. The piece is also very well paced as well, never a dry or dull moment through this film at all, itâ(TM)s just always on.
The only thing that is in the slightest bit dry, it would be the musical numbers, but they donâ(TM)t take away at all, and there is some great comedy in them as well. Just about everything works when it comes out of the comedic stylings of the Marx Brothers, and I think pretty much everyone is guaranteed to find at the very, very, very, very least ONE scene they laugh at.
Itâ(TM)s one of my favorite comedies coming from some of my favorite comedians. Really, could you expect anything less from these guys?
