Review of Duck Soup (1933) by Stefan P — 19 Dec 2009
My first film experience from the Marx brothers. I've been reading many of their famous quotes and I knew that this was my kind of humour. High expectations, to say the least. The question was if they could deliver these lines with the kind of comic timing and finesse that it takes with this kind of absurd and silly humour.
Was I disappointed? No! The characters are spot on and they complete eachother perfectly. Groucho goes right through the screen with his insulting one-liners, Harpo delivers hilarious facial expressions and pranks, and Chico is funny in his own kind of dumb way.
