Review of Drunken Master (1978) by Hrafnkell H — 07 Jan 2010
Fantastic. One of the best Jackie Chan movies.
Jackie's first crack at the role of Wong Feihong in Yuen Woo-Ping's "Jui Kuen"/"Drunken Master". This was a great success on it's initial release and ignited (along with Snake in the Eagle's Shadow) Jackie's carreer after a host of mediocre movies at the hand of director Lo Wei. The movie sees Jackie play a rather unorthodox version of Chinese martial arts legend Wong Feihong. Great coreography and stunts make this one of the greatest early martial arts flicks. And a must for any fan of Jackie's later work.
