Review of Drunken Angel (1948) by Danny D — 10 Feb 2011
Not one of my favorite Kurosawa picture, but stylistically its gorgeous. One of the first things that stuck out to me was the beautiful score, reminiscent of other Kurosawa films of the period ("Rashomon", etc.
), so I checked it out. It was done by a composer named Fumio Hayasaka, who ironically--and rather tragically--died of tuberculosis seven years after this film was made. Strange coincidence.
