Review of Drugstore Cowboy (1989) by David O — 24 Oct 2007
I loved this in my late teens, possibly cos of a certain Pacific Northwest obsession, I'm not sure really how much this glorifies drug taking though, I mean Heather Graham dies from an overdose, but she was also portrayed to be pretty annoying and ultimately her corpse just becomes a plot device.
Maybe it shouldn't be so cool, but at least it isn't sanctimonious, any message received from the end of the film does ring true in relation to what has gone before. Probably paved the way for a slew of other heroin typa movies though.
