Review of Drive (2011) by Lovro H — 23 Jul 2015
Shocking, violent, beautiful and stylishly retro, Drive's slow pace and silent attitude only heightens the tension of the film leading towards the climax, pulling you into the story and keeping you on edge. Gosling's character, the quiet and cool "Driver" is a refreshing take in a time when most protagonists are loud and/or comical, barely saying a word throughout the movie. The cinematography, soundtrack, editing and wardrobe is just perfect, adding to the arty atmosphere that Winding Refn can so easily create. The story is simple yet never feels like a repeat, and will keep your heart and mind racing until the very end.
Drive is one of the best films of the year, simply put. A+.
