Review of Drinking Buddies (2013) by Byron B — 15 May 2014
Mumblecore style film that feels like you are candidly watching these two couples sort through their relationships. Kate (Wilde) and Chris (Livingston) don't seem to have much chemistry. Luke (Johnson), who wears a full beard the entire movie unlike on the poster, and Jill (Kendrick) don't seem to have much chemistry either.
To rephrase the tagline, these characters don't know when to say when, and that goes for the way they consume beer and their inability to recognize when it is time to break off one romance for the more compatible person.
The movie is filled with talk about nothing important, and, though it may be the way real life turns out sometimes, it is frustrating when Kate and Luke can't work out their issues to become more than friends.
