Review of Drinking Buddies (2013) by Tyler W — 28 Jun 2014

A new kind of romcom, Drinking Buddies puts two couples together and gives them a whirl to see what consequences result. Critics love this unconventional take on relationships, more in the style of TV than of a full-length movie. Audiences won't, and as a part of that crowd I found it difficult to further invest in the characters.

For me, the laughs just didn't come, which is okay. At the very least I was able to grasp the spirit of the story, and appreciate that there would be no "happy ending" to this particular plot. I enjoyed the beginning and end of the movie (especially the wordless final scene), but simply got lost somewhere along the way.
