Review of Dressed to Kill (1980) by Alex A — 07 Jan 2012
Yeah it's kinda dumb, but it's DePalma for fucks sake. All his movies are dumb. But some of them are also really enjoyable, and this is one of them. There are sequences here that are pitch-perfect.
In fact, the whole first act is pretty much flawless. And the female leads are both great. And Michael Caine is great. And the slow motion suspenseful shit is great. And the derivative Hitchcock shit is great.
Basically, watch it as a popcorn film, even though there are arty sequences here and there. That way, the dumb stuff won't bug you. Just laugh through the cheese and be a good person about it. Don't be a dingus.
