Review of Dressed to Kill (1980) by Joshua L — 03 Apr 2013
A bizarre and perversely erotic thriller. De Palma shocks us right off the bat and keeps us guessing until the end. I suppose this is the kind of film Hitchcock would have made if the censors allowed him.
Michael Caine helps elevate the sleazy material and the cinematography is clever and impressive. It's actually insane just how much DePalma borrows from Hitchcock. Psycho and Vertigo are heavily referenced throughout.
