Review of Dreams of a Life (2011) by Aidan H — 05 Apr 2012
Although director Morley paints a compelling mystery, the problem here is that the result is as baffling as its subject matter and the less-than-revealing interviews with Vincent's friends and colleagues become tiresome long before its unsatisfying ending.
Attempts to piece together her final hours with noirish reconstructions do little to lift the veil while any serious dissection of modern city life are left curiously unexplored. Like so many Channel 4 documentaries before it, DoaL promises answers but delivers more questions.
