Review of Dragonwyck (1946) by Simon T — 17 Feb 2018
Wonderfully overwrought 19th century melodrama, clearly modelled on Hitchcock's Rebecca. Vincent Price rehearses his trademark bonkers aristo, shadows deepen, thunder and lightning strikes, and Walter Huston clutches his bible.
It's completely OTT and at times hilarious, not least when Price and Langan get into a speeded-up scrap. Vastly entertaining.
