Review of Dragonslayer (1981) by Davey M — 29 Oct 2009
What a very odd movie. A pretty dull, by-the-numbers script for a fantasy film, and passable performances, but the production design can be pretty cool at times, and the second half is lots of fun, once we get to the Phil Tippet dragon and her little Phil Tippet dragonlings.
The last scene is very strange, the inclusion of medieval Christianity is a little odd (but interesting), and the film climaxes (SPOILER!) in an old-school suicide bombing. Not by any means a great fantasy movie, but it's mostly fun for what it is.
