Review of DragonHeart (1996) by Marco C — 09 Apr 2010

When a young prince is wounded and near death,half the heart of a dragon saves him and binds him to the dragon. But when the prince Einons heart turns evil with cruelty and hatred. His mentor knight of the Old Code Bowen swears to find the dragon and kill him. After a long time, Bowen encounters a dragon who will form a partnership that becomes a strong friendship. Whlle the kingdom rots under Einon's rule. Bowen decides to fight back against Einon assembling the village, Kara a village girl with a strong heart, Brother Gilbert a poet and a fine archer and the dragon Draco join Bowen in his stand. But there is much deeper secret between Draco and Einon that Bowen will come to reveal as there will be a great sacrifice.

A film with heart is what this film is. I love it, a great action flick set in the medieval times. The sets are good, the visual effects for Draco are great for its time. The acting is superb with Dennis Quaid providing an outlawish forgotten type of knight, David Thewlis as the cruel hearted Einon, Peter Postlethwaite as Brother Gilbert the hilarious and comedic talent and of course Sean Connery as the voice of Draco fits the dragon well. With entertaining action scenes, a good script, fabulous storytelling and top of the art soundtrack done extremley well by Randy Edelman. This film goes on my top chart.
