I will admit that I am not familiar with the original B&W DRAGNET TV series from the 1950s but did watch a number of episodes of the later colour DRAGNET series that ran in the mid-late 1960s. Dan Aykroyd is spot on in his deadpan take on Joe Friday's nephew who seems stuck in a timewarp.
Tom Hanks transformed into a very good dramatic actor in the 1990s; its easy to forget that he was initially a thought of a comic actor and did a lot of movies like this. Ultimately, its pretty silly but in a good sort of way.
