Review of Drag Me to Hell (2009) by Dave M — 11 Feb 2013
Undeniably a fun return to horror. Raimi is the lord and savior of the genre and seems to have had a blast directing the shit out of this movie. He just adores his audience and wants to torment them relentlessly.
I found Drag Me to Hell to be legitimately scary and consistently gross out funny. It might also be the loudest movie of the year. It wants you to grab your ears and seat at the same time. A fast paced run through old school territory.
It won't go down as a masterpiece and does creep into the typical pratfalls that nearly every horror film does, but you leave with a smile on your face. Sam Raimi, you got me good you fucker. This is definitely a movie to see with an audience and your friends, cause I really can't go into details about it until you've seen it.
It all depends on how you like your horror. I don't typically dig the gore and torture porn, and absolutely love a good sense of humor. See it and decide for yourself.
