Review of Dracula Untold (2014) by Ellie B — 22 Nov 2014
Despite all of the negative reviews, I went to see this movie for myself and I was surprised to see that the movie was actually extremely well done. Luke Evans is a fabulous actor and I believe he played the character well. It's neither too romantic nor action-packed; it is a perfect blend of the two. It takes elements from Bram Stoker's infamous novel and blends them with little historical facts about the real Dracula, Vlad the Impaler. If you know enough about Vlad, you notice little things which really tie the movie together. People do not seem to understand that this is not Bram Stoker's Dracula. This is the story of Dracula's origin. The camerawork and scipt were very well done, also. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. And I cannot wait until it comes out on DVD.
I shall not spoil anything, but the ending is pure genius, and it leaves room for a spectacular sequel. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
And if you have seen the Polish movie "Suicide Room," you'll see Jakub Gierszal if you keep your eyes peeled. He has a very minor role, but it's still great to see him.
And Luke Evans is extremely attractive, just putting that out there.
So do yourself a favor and disregard the reviews and see the movie for yourself. You'll be glad you did!
