Review of Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995) by Eric H — 01 Jan 2012
This is quite disappointing considering it has Leslie Nielsen and Mel Brooks. There are some good laughs but this falls way short of the other Mel Brooks classics. The cast seems pretty good overall and at times it picks up but too many jokes fall short and donâ(TM)t deliver or even flop.
Ironically they achieved in telling some the story elements that the dramatic Dracula versions left out, but make no mistake about it, it is a spoof for sure and this is not about the story. There are good things and bad things about this movie, just know it is no Young Frankenstein and is a less memorable 90â(TM)s spoof.
This is a low point for Mel Brooks, which is not so bad; he is still a comedic genius. I just wish his final movie had been better.
