Review of Dracula 2000 (2000) by Kyler D — 17 Jun 2011
Good: Witty dialogue, cool action.
Bad: boring, somewhat unorginal, uninvolving.
The Van Helsings must fight against Dracula once again when a group of robbers discovers his coffin, and releases the evil into the world. This plotline has been old and overused for many years now. A young man in introduced in his early adult years to the vampite killing job by an old mentor to battle the evil vampire. Being a story used so much, I could guess many of the things that happened in the story before they did. The storyline also did not get the viewer remotely involved. Many of the characters are quite bland, the watcher has no reason to be attached to them. Although there were good ideas along the plotline that made the movie a little bit better, such as when you find out who Dracula really is. There were strange ideas of the vampires, which I did not like. Since when are vampires such sex machines? Even if in more modern tales they are made more physically attractive, these vampires were complete sex hounds. This is very far away from the original Dracula. It went from a vampire bat/human monster to a attractive, flying, sex addicted, action villain. The dialogue in the early part of the film was overall funny and though out, getting more serious towards the end. It was nice to see some less heard of actors that I like Danny Masterson and Nathan Fillion. This is hardly a horror movie, it doesn't even startle you most of the time. It is really just Dracula going after a girl, while having casual sex with many others, while the Van Helsings try to catch and kill him.
