Review of Dracula 2000 (2000) by Dann M — 27 Oct 2012
Wes Craven presents a bold and provocative interpretation of Bram Stoker's classic tale in Dracula 2000. In this re-envisioning, Dracula awakes from his tomb to seek out the daughter of Van Helsing after having been imprisoned by him for over a hundred years.
The cast is pretty strong, and includes Jonny Lee Miller, Gerard Butler, Jennifer Esposito, and Christopher Plummer. The writing is also fairly good, and puts a fascinating new spin on the Dracula legend.
However, the directing is weak and isn't able to fully realize the vision of the script. Yet despite its problems, Dracula 2000 is an entertaining film with an intriguing story.
