Review of Dracula 2000 (2000) by Jason R — 25 Oct 2010
One of the more interesting and unusual takes on Dracula, but it gets bogged down with characters we have no reason to care about. Too much time is spent on the heist of Dracula's coffin, and the motivation for it is never fully revealed with any adequacy.
With a movie like this, horror is the expectation, and though there are a couple jumpy moments, it is largely a stylish would-be action movie. The story, and the explanation of Dracula is unique and very intriguing, and visually it is nice to look at, but bad character development and bad acting by a normally solid set of actors throw it off its mark and cause it to fall down flat.
