Review of Dracula (1958) by Patrick K — 13 Jun 2015
My first forray into the low budget 'Hammer' horrors.
Not the first or lastest film version based on Bram Stokers 'Dracula' story but very entertaining viewing. A good introduction to these films.
Christopher Lee plays the title role but it is Peter Cushing as Draculas nemesis Professor Van Helsing that has the largest role.
Lee towering that he is and very scary looking in the cloak as Dracula has only a few lines of dialogue.
The sets and special effects are very low budget but add to the mystery of the film.
The first Lee Hammer horror shows the variety of roles he played in his career from Dracula to Lord Summerisle to Scaramanga and the bloke off Star Wars!
