Review of Dr. T & the Women (2000) by Randall J — 28 Jun 2009
A little unfairly maligned upon release, Dr. T and The Women is late director Robert Altman's presentation of a modern day Job. That would be Richard Gere as gynecologist with many women in his life, be they his wife (Farrah Fawcett, making the most of a limited role), daughters (Kate Hudson and Tara Reid) or patients.
When T's life begins to unravel, help comes in the form of many different women that include Laura Dern (excellent), Shelly Long (also excellent), Liv Tyler and Helen Hunt. No way does it stand up with Altman's great masterpieces (M.
A.S.H., Nashville,McCabe and Mrs. Miller,The Long Goodbye,The Player, Short Cuts) but you could do a lot worse.
