Review of Dr. No (1962) by Jamie W — 19 Nov 2012
The first Bond film is a good film. Its easy to see why it was successful and how a blockbuster series was created out of it. On its own, discounting all the history to follow, its merely a decent film, not a fantastic one.
It does introduce many recurring elements, and some of them work better here than in later films, and the film is still ICONIC, but it isn't the best the series had to offer. Connery is still the greatest in the role, and there are plenty of enjoyable moments to be had throughout the viewing experience, so I'd still recommend this.
