Review of Dr. No (1962) by Westleigh Q — 16 Dec 2010
It's easy to understand how the Bond franchise has endured for so many decades when you see where it all began. Dr. No not only brings us Sean Connery in his debut as 007, but is also a solid film from start to finish.
Unlike later Bond films full of international travel, ridiculous gagdets, and overly complicated plots, Dr. No is relatively simple and straightforward. U.S. missiles keep misfiring and the government suspects someone in Jamaica has something to do with it.
Meanwhile, MI6 just happens to lose one of their agents stationed in Jamaica. Send in James Bond to help the CIA and figure out what happened to his lost comrade. Boom. End of awesome story. Highly recommend this film, if not just to see where it all started.
