Review of Dr. No (1962) by Dan H — 23 Feb 2014
The film that started it all. Admittedly it's not the best Bond Film (while the villain does have a great sense of style his motivation isn't completely fleshed out and he dies a pretty weak death, the opening credits sequence isn't memorable, and there are few classic lines and scenes), but it jump started one of the most culturally important film franchises of all time.
The first ever Bond Girl is absolutely sizzling, Bond is immediately established as one of the suavest and most bad-ass heroes, the score is great, and it's just an all-around fun film. I'm not the biggest fan of Bond, but this is my first step in an attempt to change my own mind.
So far, it's going pretty well.
