Review of Dr. No (1962) by Henry Hull H — 16 Aug 2011
I've seen this several times, and it really holds up. I can't believe it is half a century old. Perhaps played the straightest of all the Bond films (and entirely gadget free), and Connery is so damn cool.
The cars, girls, booze, and cigarettes seem so natural, whereas in the later movies they seem forced, or even worse, product placements. The fact that Britain still had some Empire left and Jamaica was still a part of it also gives it a different vibe.
A true classic.
