Review of Dr. Cyclops (1940) by James-Masaki R — 17 Oct 2011
Made way before the scifi explosion of the 1950's, this Dr. Moreau-ish film about a doctor who shrinks his victims to miniature size is a forgotten underappreciated old-school flick. It doesn't compare to Schoedsack's work in "King Kong", but the technicolor special effects, the first for a science fiction movie, are some wonderful stuff.
Obviously WWII made a stop to making films like this so the genre languished for 10 years plus...
