Review of Downsizing (2017) by Diane V — 31 Mar 2018
What did I just watch?? Seriously, this movie started out fine. However, as soon as Matt Damon's character was downsized (about a half hour in) the movie turned to a complete waste of time. Suddenly, Matt Damon is partying with his creepy neighbor, hooking up with a gal that was ostracized from her own community and made small as punishment, and then we're at the end of the world where we're now going to live underground.
???????????????????
It's like someone said "Let's reboot "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids". Wait, now I'm tired and have no idea where to take this story.... Oh wait, let's just throw some completely random situations in, try to pass some of it off as 'comedy' and reap the rewards". I got the feeling they were trying to make some kind of environmental statement here. I'm all for saving the environment, but good God, talk about a complete WTF outing for the movie going public. So glad I rented this instead of paying full price to see it in a theatre. Terrible.
