Review of Downsizing (2017) by Chris O — 30 Dec 2017
Though not entirely what is expected from the misleading trailer, "Downsizing" is still a decent enough movie. Matt Damon plays an ordinary, kind-hearted man who undergoes a new procedure to be shrunk so that he and his wife can afford a nice lifestyle (and hopefully help save the planet).
At times it is very funny and as a social satire it is more enjoyable than Damon's "Elysium", although its environmental messages around global warming and conservation are far from subtle.
It is unfortunate that this hijacks it from its promoted premise as the downsizing idea is an interesting and original premise.
