Review of Downsizing (2017) by Eduardo C — 24 Jan 2018
What a disappointment this was. A great cast and so much promise, only to be ruined by a poor script and what felt like a bi-polar director. The story line jumps wildly from one thread to another, all too often leaving you still wondering about the details of the last snippet of story we have been partly filled in on.
It takes such a long, draining amount of time to get going that you've already lost interest before it actually starts to kick in. And then in parts you feel that the film is actually going to start getting good, and boom, it's taken off in yet another direction and the tinge of excitement is gone all over again.
It felt like 3 or 4 different directors with totally different ideas were fighting over the film. And that it was originally 6 hours long but to shorten it they did a poor highlights show.
