Review of Downfall (2004) by Diana L — 03 Aug 2013
As if the point-blank shootings weren't horrific enough, I was really shocked by the scene where Magda Goebbels poisoned all of her six children. I'm not usually a fan of things blowing up, but this was about one of the defining moments of the 20th century, indeed in all of history, so I didn't find it gratuitous.
Bruno Ganz was highly impressive as Hitler, although by the time he committed suicide, I didn't actually see him as somebody evil, but a pitiful figure. I'm not sure that was what was meant to come across.
