Review of Downfall (1997) by Geoff C — 21 Oct 2010
This is historical drama at it's best. Great cinematography, great acting, (especially from Bruno Ganz) and great story telling.
It takes a special capability of story telling to make the viewer feel a little sorry for Hitler while at the same time revealing the depth of his inhumanity. It also takes some great acting skills on the part of Ganz. Basically they put a pig (Hitler) in lipstick. He's still Hitler, but he is wearing lipstick now.
One of the greatest WWII films. Probably the Greatest WWII film made from their perspective. It is very genuine.
Watch it.
