Review of Downfall (1997) by Jonathan B — 23 Oct 2016
Indescribable testament to how far people will go to delude themselves and the tragic consequences that can follow for the whole world. It is hard to feel sorrow or pity for almost all of the characters in this film, but you feel plenty of it for the masses caught in the crossfire between the Soviet army and the madness of the disintegrating Nazi regime.
It was as fascinating as it was depressing watching so many people rationalize the continued slaughter of their countrymen as well as their own unnecessary deaths. Needless to say this is a very difficult movie to watch.
