Review of Down with Love (2003) by Angela C — 16 Dec 2007
A highly stylized film that succeeds on many levels. The casting is great and everyone works well together. Zellweger annoys me (as usual) but I could stand her for the mere fact that she worked well with McGregor.
The movie has many funny moments and the tongue-in-cheek sexual humor is top notch. One must keep in mind that this film had a clear purpose to show homage to the old Doris Day-Rock Hudson films. By doing this, one can look past its shortcomings in certain areas and enjoy the movie for what it is.
People will enjoy this movie even more if they like musicals as it seems as if it could have easily been made into one. The characters seem to almost break into songs at many points in the film. See this movie if you want to see a movie that is a different and entertaining.
