Review of Down with Love (2003) by Rachel S — 31 Mar 2013
Recently rewatching this after a long time without seeing it, I was delighted with how romantic and funny this one is. This was produced in every way as an homage to the classic Doris Day-Rock Hudson rom-coms from the late '50s and early '60s, and it truly is paced like those films, with the same witty writing, though this time with a bit more modern sensibility.
I ADORE every aspect of the production values here. The costumes are insanely wonderful, the sets and art direction are perfect, and the music is unforgettable. Even Zellweger's makeup is flawless! This film is a treat.
