Review of Down with Love (2003) by Valerie M — 02 Aug 2008
I loved it. It had a great stylized effect that they tried to do back in the '60s with Thoroughly Modern Millie, but this time it actually worked. It's like Thoroughly Modern Millie gone horribly right.
Great screenplay, that made fun of and paid homage to the romantic comedies of yesteryear. Ewan McGregor was simply great, and I didn't even hate Renee Zellweger...on the contrary, I rather enjoyed her performance.
And David Hyde Pierce was his usual adorable, neurotic, downright genius self. Great direction, great acting, great writing, great costumes and use of music and overall a well made, fun, ridiculously enjoyable film.
