Review of Down in the Valley (2005) by Luke B — 08 Jun 2007
A NEAR-PERFECT FILM!!! Featuring Edward Norton's most tormented and psychologically complex performance since 'Fight Club', a breathtaking script from writer/director David Jacobson, and some of the most beautifully gritty and heartwrenching moments in modern screen history, this film is nearly flawless folks!!! So why has it been so poorly received?!?!? I attribute this to its ridiculously limited theatrical run, as well as an overwhelming majority of mediocre reviews (aside from Rolling Stone's critic Peter Travers, who helped garner support for this amazing indie film) Snubbed by critics and overlooked by both the Oscars & Indie Spirit Awards, I must proclaim to all the naysayers out there: "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!" This film is magnificent, people! 10/10.
