Down in the Valley is a psychologically dark movie in which Edward Norton turns in yet another amazing performance as a twisted character. The naive and childish wishes of cowboy Harlan clash with the modern suburb in which he is stuck and out of place.

Well written and acted, the pacing is just a bit off at times with some scenes feeling a bit extraneous or drawn out. The ending, however, is unexpected and interesting. An Edward Norton movie is pretty much always worth watching at least once.

In my case, I'll watch his movies many times because he is such a brilliant and bold actor taking on such unique roles.
